Ambassadors Football is a Christian football club located in Prague, whose mission is to share the hope of the Gospel with as many players as possible in and around the Czech Republic. The club is led by Lukáš Kozák, the club’s president, and Tomáš Jeník, the club’s sporting director, who oversees all coaches within the organization. The Ambassadors Club in Prague already serves 250 players with the Gospel. Kids from six years old to adult men and women are part of a unique atmosphere in our teams where they can form deep relationships with other players and Christian coaches. And these players can understand the Gospel through those relationships.
Ambassadors Football has been active and growing in the Czech Republic over the last 30 years. When we first started, the organization was a small group of volunteers led by foreign missionaries who focused on running camps, hosting team tours, and managing a few key projects a year.

Problém

The Czech Republic is one of the most atheistic countries in the world with only .5% of the population professing a faith in Jesus, amongst athletes that number is even less. However, through football, our club has created an atmosphere that organically brings the Gospel to those who’ve never heard it and discipleship opportunities for those searching for it.
1) As our ministry has grown to serve so many players and teams, we find ourselves struggling to find facilities consistently available to rent at desirable times and relevant locations. Currently, we have rental agreements with ten different locations (used 5x/week) that always have a risk of changing.
2) Additionally, the costs for renting facilities continue to rise, challenging the ability of our club to offer competitive pricing for families to have their players exposed to Christian coaches.
3) By renting so many different locations, Ambassadors wrestles to maintain a recognizable identity throughout the community in Prague.

Řešení

Church buildings are valuable resources because they serve as a central meeting place for Christian believers to regularly gather as a community with a unified identity. For the same reason, a football club needs to have a central location for parents and children to play or watch matches, participate in training sessions and camps, attend Bible studies, youth and adult programs, and other outreach events.

These three concerns can be addressed and solved with one solution: acquiring our own field. Not only does having a field impact the players and families within the club, but it also sets an example of professionalism for neighboring football clubs within the city to see, experience, and hopefully ask how the Christian Gospel changes lives in a way that positively impacts the community we share.

Aktivity

Now, how can you support us? We’re looking to raise 200,000 euros through the EGCC. These funds will be used to purchase property with a field and a building for a club community center. This 200,000 euros represents 10% of our total financial need. Another 20% will come from other donors committed to supporting our club. Once we have the first 30% of the funds needed for this campaign, Ambassadors will be eligible to receive the remaining 70% through Czech government grants. Our players will have a safe place to play. Our coaches will have a center for discipleship. And our community will have a brighter light to shine the love of Christ.
We are going to continue with our ministry for our players. The community center will allow us to serve the families of our players and the community around them with Bible courses and discipleship groups. We will also more effectively prepare new coaches in the new place.

We can have our own place to serve without limits given us by landlords of the fileds.

Dlouhodobý dopad

Share the Gospel with more players. Create a community where we can more effectively serve not only children and young players, but also their families. Build a community center where we can organize sports ministry trainings and thus equip more Christians for ministry. Be more understandable to other football clubs who will know a Christian football club and individual Christians who could share the Gospel with their players. Finanční udržitelnost

When we build our own Ambassadors Football Community Center, we will no longer have to pay the rents for pitches and facilities that we now pay to other football clubs (in this year, it will be in total over 45.000 eur). On the contrary, we will be able to rent our facilities to other football clubs and other interested parties. From a long-term perspective, this is a fundamental transformation in our financial management.

Potenciál růstu

We are going to continue with our ministry for our 250 players, more effectively and more frequently in the week. The community center will allow us to serve also to families of our players, which we cannot serve now, and to our community with Bible courses and discipleship groups, 4 times per week instead of 1 time per week now. We will also train and educate new coaches more effectively with our own facilities.

Ambassadors Football is an international Christian organization operating in approximately 30 countries around the world. Ambassadors work in the Czech Republic was started in the 1990s by US and UK missionaries. The main activity is playing, training and organizing football. As a mass phenomenon, football is a unique way of approaching people who would have difficulty encountering Christianity in their lives. Football allows us to build deep relationships with them, show them Christians and Christianity and, if they are interested, invite them to church. There are two things that we see as valuable in our organization. Firstly, that we are succesful in reaching boys and men with the Gospel, secondly the model of discipleship, which is an important element in the functioning of our leaders and the entire organization.
